A Tapestry of Community

Bristol Unitarians retreat weekend

Friday 20 – 22 September 2019. At Llangasty Retreat Centre, near Brecon

‘Llangasty Retreat House is a Christian centre, and a place for individuals and groups to develop their spirituality by means of retreats, conferences and study groups.

A place of Christian Worship and Prayer, set in surroundings of peace, beauty and tranquillity, with wildlife in abundance that never fails to catch the retreatants attention. Llangasty Retreat House has been used as a place of retreat by Church groups, The Mothers Union and study groups to name but a few, for over 50 years.’

For more info about the centre go to

Join us for a restorative time of fellowship, creativity and spirituality sessions, time to enjoy the outdoors, worship, free time and great food.

A weekend offering us the space to relax, reflect and reinvigorate ourselves in this lovely retreat centre. Join us for quality time to live in community, deepen our connections and make new friends.

Participants will have the chance to offer a session or workshop of some kind if they wish. Please let the planning group (Paul, Mark, Karl and John) know if you want to lead something and they will do their best to fit it into the programme. We will not be running any sessions alongside each other. A programme will be sent out nearer the time when it has been put together.

Rooms are single or twin. There are two rooms on the ground floor which are twin/ensuite and accessible to wheelchairs – please specify if you want to request one of these. All other rooms have a sink but are not ensuite – with toilet and shower in the corridor. The cost of the weekend is £120 per person regardless of whether you share or not. Bristol Unitarians have already subsidised each place in order to make the weekend more affordable. If you require a further reduction due to your financial situation please contact the treasurer of your congregation. This weekend fee includes accommodation, home cooked meals and resources. To book a place please request a booking form from Karl and pay a deposit of £50 made payable to Bristol and District Group of Unitarian Churches. The balance can be paid at the weekend.

Public transport

The nearest railway station is Abergavenny, which is about 15 miles away. Taxis are available, but are expensive (not such an issue if several people are sharing). There is a bus stop about 2.5 miles away in BWLCH but it doesn’t connect with the train and the bus station is about 5 mins walk from the railway station. We’re happy to collect from BWLCH and, with warning, can sometimes collect from the railway station. Another possibility is a bus from Cardiff to Brecon - and we collect from there (about 6 miles away). I’ve mentioned several methods as we’ve had retreatants who really enjoy working out different ways of reaching us or are strongly committed to using public transport.

Lift share

If you would like to request a lift in someone’s car from Bristol please let us know on the booking form. If you can offer someone a lift in your vehicle please specify this.
