Welcome to Bristol
Often
described as a collection of neighbourhoods, Bristol is a relatively
compact city offering a diverse mix of experiences for people of all
ages. It is a city that doesn’t just buzz, it thumps!
The
vibrant and historic Harbourside is home to award winning visitor
attractions, museums, galleries, festivals and copious places to eat
and drink.
The
old city is bursting with character and charm, offering a taste of
culture, theatre, nightlife, history and fantastic shopping.
The
exclusive suburb of Clifton offers fine boutiques, restaurants and
bars, all situated alongside popular visitor attractions like Bristol
Zoo Gardens and the stunning Clifton Suspension Bridge.
The
culture quarter that is Stokes Croft and Gloucester Rd is one of
Bristol’s most creative and bohemian neighbourhoods, known for
street art, live music, and independent shops, galleries, cafes and
bars. (it's the longest independent shopping street in the whole of
Europe).
Head
away from the centre to discover other areas of note and interest
like the multicultural area of St Marks Rd, Arnos Vale Cemetery where
Mary Carpenter is buried, Snuff Mills and beautiful Blaise Castle
Estate and much, much more.
In
the words of Stephen Merchant (comedian, actor and co-writer of The
Office and Extras):
‘Bristol is cool, cosmopolitan in its own way, it doesn’t copy or
compete with other cities. Bristol is quite happy dancing to the
beat of its own drum’
